Skylark & Stroke Rehabilitation Unit Ward

Skylark/SRU Ward is a 30 bed rehabilitation ward devoted to the care of adult patients who need assessment, treatment and/or rehabilitation, but who do not need to be in an acute hospital.

Patients may have been admitted to Skylark/SRU Ward from an acute hospital, or from the community.

Skylark has 14 side rooms, each with their own toilet and shower room. There is also an independent living flat, which has its own bathroom. living room and kitchen. These rooms are dedicated to the rehabilitation of people following an acute medical or surgical episode.

The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (SRU) has three, four bedded bays and three side rooms, each with their own toilet and shower room. These are dedicated to the rehabilitation of stroke survivors.


What happens on the ward?

If you've been admitted to the ward your needs will be assessed by Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Clinical Psychologist/Psychiatric Liaison Nurse, who will plan with you the support and treatment you will need to aid your recovery and plan your discharge.

Information for Visitors:

All visitors are welcome to the ward and we value their support in helping patients to rehabilitate. However, to guard against infection, we ask all visitors to use the hand gel provided before and after visiting. Hand gel dispensers can be found throughout the ward. We also ask that visitors do not sit on beds, if extra chairs are needed please ask a member of staff.

Visiting hours are between 1:30pm and 5pm and 6:30pm and 8:30pm every day, with the exception of meal times. To ensure our patients are able to eat all their meals uninterrupted, the ward is closed during the following times:

Lunch: 12 noon to 1:30pm

Dinner: 5pm to 6:30pm
