Livewell Southwest is pleased to announce the appointment of a new non-executive director to the Board.

Annette Benny, who lives in Plymouth, has extensive experience of working in the NHS and at the Department of Health with roles in operational management, leading capital projects, consultancy, commissioning and performance.

As the programme manager, Annette was instrumental in setting up NHS Northern, Eastern, Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), in 2012. Most recently she was Director of Corporate Affairs for both CCGs in Devon with a portfolio comprising contracting, business intelligence, information technology, referral management, human resources and organisational development.

Livewell Southwest runs Mount Gould, Tavistock and South Hams hospitals as well as a wide range of community health and mental health services for the NHS, and adult social care services for Plymouth City Council.

Duncan Currall, Livewell Southwest chairman, said: “I am delighted to welcome Annette to our Board. As a talented and experienced manager and leader in health and social care, Annette’s skills and expertise will help us to drive further improvements in the overall quality of care and performance throughout all our services.

“She clearly shares Livewell’s passion for making a real difference to people’s lives and I very much look forward to working with her to support the people of Plymouth and surrounding areas.”

Annette added: “I had the opportunity to retire from full-time work in the NHS earlier this year and am enjoying a change in lifestyle, however I still have the energy and desire to continue to make a difference to local people. As a resident in the Plymouth area this role has a particular resonance for me with a direct impact of any improvement for my family and friends.”

Livewell Southwest has five non-executive directors who bring an independent oversight and play an important role in shaping the strategy and policies of the organisation.

The organisation is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) which invests any surplus it makes into the services we provide and the communities we serve.
