Livewell Southwest supports National Apprenticeship Week 2019

by | 4th March 2019 | News

Now in its 12th year, National Apprenticeship Week is a celebration of the impact of apprenticeships on individuals, employers and the economy. This week, 4th – 8th March, Livewell Southwest will be highlighting the fantastic opportunities available for those interested in an apprenticeship, as well as looking at the experiences of some our apprentices.

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study which will lead to a nationally recognised qualification. Apprentices benefit from working alongside experienced staff, gaining job-specific skills, and being given time for study relating to their role (usually one day a week) whilst earning a wage. At Livewell Southwest, which has been recognised as one of the top performing apprenticeship employers in the country, we currently have 65 apprentices in training across many areas of our operations. And while many apprentices across the country are paid the government recommended apprenticeship minimum wage, entry level apprentices at Livewell Southwest are paid £7.05 an hour as well as being eligible for the other benefits that come from working for Livewell Southwest, such as paid holidays and shopping discounts from local retailers.

Livewell Southwest has developed apprenticeships in the following areas:

  • Health care support workers
  • Assistant practitioners
  • Nursing associates
  • Business intelligence
  • Digital services
  • Business administration
  • Human resources
  • Estates management
  • Management and leadership

As a social enterprise and major employer in the region, Livewell Southwest believes that our award-winning apprenticeship scheme is good for our employees, enhances the services we offer and most importantly benefits the people who use those services.

Over the coming week, we will take a look back at some of our past apprentices and their successes, as well as finding out about the experiences of some of our current apprentices.

We start this week with a look back at past apprentices, Lauren Bancroft and Bronwyn Shaw, both of whom secured permanent positions with Livewell Southwest on completion of their apprenticeships: click here to read more.
