TIME: 8.30am–12.30pm

VENUE: Future Inn, 1 William Prance Rd

EVENT: Proud To Care Ambassador Recruitment event

If you work in health or care in Plymouth and want to encourage others to do so, why not become a Proud to Care Ambassador?

A Proud To Care event is being held on Tuesday 26 June, both to recruit new ambassadors, and to help existing ambassadors develop their skills further to inspire others to join the profession.

The event has been organised jointly by Livewell Southwest CIC, Plymouth City Council, University Hospitals Plymouth and Scott Medical and Healthcare College, and is open to anybody who works in health or care, as part of the ongoing Proud To Care Devon campaign.

As a Proud to Care Ambassador you will be asked to:

  • Attend events at schools, job centres, colleges, apprenticeship events
  • Talk positively about your role in health or care and encourage others to consider working in health or care

Support you will receive as a Proud to Care Ambassador:

  • Support from the Proud to Care team in Devon
  • National support via the Skills for Care I Care Ambassador scheme
  • Get the opportunity to network with your peers regionally and nationally

Dr Adam Morris, chief executive of Livewell Southwest, said: “I am proud of the professionalism of all our staff working in health and social care and the passion they have for helping the people they support. This is a great opportunity for them to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with people following in their career footsteps.”

Councillor Ian Tuffin, cabinet member for health and adult social care for Plymouth City Council, said: “If you’re passionate about your role in health or social care and want to inspire others to join this sector, we’d love to hear from you.

“We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate care and health practitioners to become Proud to Care Ambassadors.

“If you’re already a Proud to Care Ambassador then this is your opportunity to learn more about careers across care and health, access resources and activities, and network with others.”

Headteacher at Scott Medical and Healthcare College Martyn Cox said: “It is a privilege to be part of the Proud to Care initiative – the whole reason Scott Medical and Healthcare College exists is to inspire and educate the next generation of healthcare professionals.

“Hearing from people who are pursuing careers in medicine and healthcare is a key part of our students’ experience.

“As a Proud To Care ambassador you are an influential role model – discovering first-hand why people chose the path they did and why they love their role has a powerful impact on our young people.”

What is a Proud to Care Ambassador?

Our Ambassadors are enthusiastic, frontline care and health staff who attend careers events and talk passionately and enthusiastically about their role in care and health. They aim to inspire people to start a career in the care and health sector and demonstrate how rewarding it can be. We currently have more than 115 Ambassadors throughout Devon who attend events at schools, colleges, universities, job centres and apprenticeship events to talk honestly about their role in health and social care.
