Breastfeeding support and information

During pregnancy it is important that you are offered information about healthy lifestyle choices which enables you to make the right decisions for you and your family.

Plymouth Latch-On groups can offer mum’s information, practical support and guidance during pregnancy and beyond.  Specially trained peer supporters and health professionals are available to chat through any concerns, help overcome any challenges and offer a warm welcome to anyone wishing to know more about breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding also has benefits for a mum, reducing her risks of developing some cancers, using up extra calories and providing a special time for being close, holding, talking to and looking at her baby.  Breastfeeding is a new skill, which mum’s and babies need to learn and practice together.

Breastfeeding provides a baby with the best possible start to life.  The very first milk a mum makes, is packed full of antibodies, which boosts the baby’s immune system and helps them fight off infections.
